4000km Road Trip

Back to Australia! 🙂

After landing in Melbourne on the 18th of April 2013 I spent the first two weeks staying in the city and visiting my relatives in the area waiting for an answer for a job I applied to.
After two weeks went to see the guys from the farm I’ve worked on last year and stayed with them for another week or so, still waiting for a reply.
When I finally got it, it wasn’t happy news at all as they didn’t need me. So in a quick decision I called up a friend I met last year who was road tripping from Sydney to Perth to give me a lift over to WA where I wanted to go eventually.
A couple days later I found myself on the road again. In for a 4000km journey which should take about two weeks.

I’ve seen the Opera House, the Great Barrier Reef and the Twelve Apostels. So what else do I have to see before I go home? Right, Uluru (or Ayers Rock). And the Outback in general. Which I haven’t yet.

Even though I do have a car, it’s a pretty darn long way from Melbourne to Adelaide, up to the Center and further up to Darwin. Which is why I decided to fly to Adelaide and get on a guided bus tour from there.
So, one day while I was still working on the farm I decided to go for a 2 hour drive to Melbourne, dropped in the Backpackers World Travel Shop and went out leaving about $1500 with them. Just to drive back for another 2 hours.
However, for that shit load of money I got a tour by Groovy Grape Getaways from Adelaide to Alice Springs and one by Adventure Tours from Alice to Darwin + Litchfield and Kakadu National Park. So I guess it wasn’t too bad after all. Haha

First of, I flew from Melbourne to Adelaide, checked in at the Backpack Oz hostel and went to explore the city. Not that there’s much to explore anyway. Adelaide is a pretty small city, very quiet but nice. Mehr
